Politics Suck
So last night i made the mistake of going to bed watching MSNBC. Now this has nothing to do with the network, I frequent MSNBC’s coverage. However last night the coverage surrounded the ongoing negotiations about the debt ceiling. Let it be known that I hate the party system when it comes to our government. (Are we really united when we pin each other against the wall and call the other...

Popcorn Poppers
If you commute from out of the 5 boroughs you’ll appreciate this. Every evening I am amazed at the amount of passengers on board my lovely NJTransit train that are stuffing their faces with popcorn. I don’t get it, I really don’t, and this is why; You have spent all day working in NYC, the busiest city in the country, and now you are settling in for your ride home, and...

Casey Anthony Trial
I did not follow the trial from start to finish, and I doubt people who have sounded off in outrage did. This morning a substitute juror was on the Today Show. (They are on the jury, but they don’t partake in the deliberation or vote.) He said he felt the jury got it right. The truth was the prosecution could not prove what actually happened, or who did it “beyond a reasonable doubt.” Hence...

betashop: Startup Office Hours? →
betashop: A fellow startup CEO recently posed the question: What do you do for office hours at your company? Do you enforce a strict time expectation for people to be in the office? Is it 9 to 5? Is it 10 to 6? What about work from home vs. in the office? How about vacation days? Do you count days off?

W+K Japan Relief Poster
Simple Design for a major catastrophe.  fab: Ad giants Wieden+Kennedy have put their design talents to work to help solve a problem: how to motivate people to donate to Japanese earthquake relief efforts. They designed this poster (actual credit to Max Erdenberger) and for a minimum donation of $25 it is yours. They’re eating the printing and shipping costs. It’s a generous and inventive...

A look back at 2010
This year has rocked! I really have few complaints for 2010 and the things I have experienced. This year I have learned more about myself, my friends, my family, and the world around me then ever before. I’ve learned; hard work and determination can lead to success. being true to who you are believing in yourself will overcome any adversary.  family is family, and that the love and...

Getting Emotional
Today was the first day I got emotional in a classroom. Sure I have expressed emotion in a classroom before, but today was the first day I literally broke down in front of a professor and my peers. I had become infuriated over an article that the LA Times had run on September 24th. Not only was the article poorly written, but the author did a poor job at putting the numbers from the CDC report in...

The Return to Connecticut
I am very sorry to say that as I write this, summer is coming to a close. It is hard to believe it has gone by this quick, but as the saying goes, “all good things must come to an end.” Theses past months of summer have provided me with life long experiences and growth opportunities that I won’t soon forget. While the summer may be ending I still will be continuing what I started in May, which is...
